Tom Maher







Tom has over 20 years’ experience working as a technician and an engineer across the marine engineering and semiconductor industries. Over the last ten years Tom has been part of a global learning organisation within a leading multinational.
As a Technical Training Engineer Tom has been responsible for an industry leading training lab, designing technical training equipment and programs to be delivered to a highly skilled global workforce. These programs covered a broad technical skill base including Mechanical, Electrical, PLC’s, Microcontrollers, Electronics, Vacuum systems and more. Tom led the standardisation of technical training across sites in Ireland, America, Israel and China. As well as technical training Tom has designed and delivered several team development and leadership training programs, these programs have again been adopted across a global audience. Tom has designed programs that formed part of a joint Industry/University BSc Degree.
Tom led the industry team involved in creating an innovative new QQI Level 6 Manufacturing Technician Skills Program and was responsible for the technical content of the program and was also involved in the design of the training center for the delivery of the program. This was a joint industry/FIT Ltd/ETB program designed to produce highly skilled industry ready technicians and is being delivered by Kildare-Wicklow ETB
Tom has extensive experience delivering training programs, not only to industry but also at University and IT College levels, including online learning. All of Tom’s programs are based on a high level of practical application and are delivered in an engaging and enthusiastic style.
Tom has a BEng in Marine Engineering and a BEng (Hons) in Mechatronics
